Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of Perfect The Mix and the services you book through it. By booking a service you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Client Guidelines and Privacy Policy.

Perfect The Mix is a service operated by Perfect The Mix Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17210837, with its registered office at 97 Bush Hill Road, London, N21 2DJ, United Kingdom. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

1. Definitions

  • Producer — the music producer or engineer providing a booked service through Perfect The Mix.
  • Services — Track Assessment, Production & Engineering, and Mentorship, as described in our Client Guidelines.
  • You / Client — the person booking and paying for a service.

2. Our services and standards

Our services are intended for producers who already have a working command of their craft, as set out in the Client Guidelines. To be accepted for a service your material must meet the standard described there — in particular, tracks submitted for assessment must be substantially complete (around 90%) and your own work.

Full Production & Engineering is only available after a Track Assessment, and is entirely at the producer's discretion. Completing a Track Assessment does not guarantee that a producer will agree to take on production work.

3. Booking and payment

Services are booked and paid for in full through our website before work begins. Prices are shown at the point of booking; Track Assessments are £100. Production is booked on a per-day basis, and Mentorship in blocks of four sessions.

You have 14 days from booking to submit your track. The date shown at booking is for administration only — you may send it as soon as you have paid — but if it is not submitted within 14 days you lose your fee.

4. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for supplying complete, correct material of the required standard. For production work: Because everyone runs different software and plugins, please provide all your parts as audio stems, together with a 2-track master and full MIDI. Supplying incomplete or incorrect parts may mean additional time is required (at additional cost) or the loss of your deposit.

You confirm that you own or control all rights in the material you submit and that our and the producer's work on it will not infringe anyone else's rights.

5. Changes, cancellations and refunds

The following applies to bookings you cancel or move:

  • Rescheduling within the required notice (at least 5 days for production, 48 hours for mentoring) is free.
  • Cancelling with the required notice: you will receive a 90% refund; we retain 10% as a booking and administration fee.
  • Cancelling inside the notice window, or failing to attend (a "no-show"): no refund is due.

Mentorship sessions not attended without the required notice are treated as no-shows and are charged in full.

6. Delivery of work and file handling

Finished files, and any track-assessment feedback, are returned to you by a private download link. Your uploads and deliverables are kept in a private area of our company storage that only you, your producer and Perfect The Mix can access. We retain a copy of delivered masters so that, in the event of any dispute, the delivered work can be verified.

7. Turnaround

Track Assessment feedback is returned within 7 days of your complete submission being received. Production timescales are agreed with your producer before work begins. Timescales run from the point at which we have everything needed to start; delays caused by missing or incorrect material are not our responsibility.

8. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of your music and of the final masters delivered to you. You grant us and the producer the limited rights needed to carry out and deliver the service. Unless separately agreed in writing, producers do not claim authorship, royalties or credit in your released work.

9. If you are not happy — complaints and adjudication

If you are unhappy with any part of a service, contact us first at info@perfectthemix.com within 14 days of delivery, describing the problem. We will review it with the producer and aim to resolve it fairly — for example by clarifying feedback, agreeing a reasonable revision, or, where we consider it justified, offering a partial or full refund.

Where you and the producer disagree on whether the work met the agreed brief, Perfect The Mix will act as adjudicator, reviewing the brief, your submitted material and the delivered work, and reaching a reasonable decision. Because delivered masters are retained (clause 6), we can assess the work objectively. Our decision is made in good faith and is intended to be the final step in resolving the matter between you and the producer.

10. Taxes

Prices are shown inclusive or exclusive of tax as indicated at booking. Where required by law, local taxes are applied at checkout according to your location — in particular, mentoring services booked from within the EU are charged at the applicable local rate.

11. Liability

We provide the services with reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity or data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Our total liability for any booking is limited to the amount you paid for it.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on our website at the time you book.

Client Guidelines

Please read these guidelines before booking. They explain who our services are for, how each one works, and what we'll need from you.

Who these services are for

Perfect The Mix is built for producers who already have a grasp of their craft. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable writing and finishing your own tracks. If you're just starting out, you'll get far more from these services once you have a few completed tracks behind you.

Every producer works slightly differently, and each will happily work with clients across a range of experience levels — but all of our services assume you already know your way around a project.

How it works

Everything starts with a Track Assessment. This is the compulsory first step for anyone who wants full production work, and it's where the producer reviews your music and decides what's needed.

Important: booking full production is entirely dependent on the producer agreeing to work on your track after that assessment. It protects both sides — making sure your track is right for the producer, and the producer is right for your music, before any production is booked or paid for.

In short:

1. Book a Track Assessment with your chosen producer.
2. Submit your track and any notes.
3. The producer assesses it and gives you feedback.
4. If they're happy to take it on, they'll recommend the production work and send you a booking link.
5. You book and pay for the recommended work, and the producer begins.

Our services

Track Assessment

Track assessments are for near-complete tracks — around 90% there — that you have produced yourself. Send well-developed work rather than sketches or loops, so the producer can give you honest, detailed feedback on where the track is and what would take it to the next level.

At a glance:
• £100 across the board.

Production & Engineering

To get your track release-ready, it needs to be at a certain standard already — the producer is mixing, mastering and finishing your work to a professional standard, not building it from scratch. The track assessment is where they confirm your track is ready and agree what's involved.

At a glance:
• Booked on a per-day basis, after a successful track assessment.
• Please book at least 5 days in advance.
• What to supply: all parts as audio stems, plus a 2-track master and full MIDI. Incomplete or incorrect parts may mean extra time (at additional cost) or loss of your deposit.

Mentorship (1-to-1)

Mentorship isn't for complete beginners, but everyone else is welcome — from producers levelling up to experienced pros after a fresh set of ears. Come with work in progress and specific questions and you'll get the most from your producer's time.

At a glance:
• 2-hour sessions over Zoom, bought in blocks of four weekly sessions.
• Take your sessions within about 3 months, from the slots the producer offers.
• Changes up to 48 hours before a session. No-shows are still charged.

Booking, changes and cancellations

Receiving your files

When you book production, you'll get a private link to upload your files securely. Your producer works on them and then returns the finished files — and any track-assessment feedback — to you directly by a private download link. You'll never see anyone else's work, and no one sees yours.

How to assess your level

Not sure where you sit? Use these three levels as a rough guide to whether our services are right for you.

1. Beginner (Entry-Level)

• Technical: You have basic proficiency in a DAW such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro or Studio One. You understand MIDI, basic comping, and how to use stock plugins and mixing tools such as EQ and compression.
• Creative: You can build a 4 to 8 bar loop and arrange it into a basic song structure. You might rely heavily on unedited samples or loops.
• Validation: You might have a SoundCloud or Bandcamp profile, but likely no official commercial releases.

2. Intermediate (Emerging Artist)

• Technical: You have a solid grasp of sound design (synthesis, sampling) and mix engineering. Your tracks have proper gain staging, sidechaining and spatial placement.
• Creative: You can consistently finish tracks that follow genre conventions, while beginning to develop your own sonic signature.
• Validation: You likely have a small discography on Spotify or Apple Music via distributors such as DistroKid or TuneCore, and maybe some DJ support from local or niche artists.

3. Professional (Industry Standard)

• Technical: You have mastered the "last 10%" of a mix: transient shaping, advanced automation, and confident use of industry-standard tools such as Pro Tools or Waves plugins.
• Creative: You produce high-quality records consistently and to tight deadlines, and you often act as a director, getting the best from an artist or vocalist.
• Validation: You are signed to reputable labels (e.g. Anjunabeats, Defected, Toolroom). Your records feature on Beatport charts or get A-list DJ support, and you likely have a track record of paid work-for-hire or ghost-production.
